Weekly Assignment: Photo One: Otherworldly Five

Your assignment this week is to transform the oridnary into the Otherworldly.

Take five pictures of everyday objects, and using Filtersr in Photoshop transform them to look like they just stepped off of an alien ship. Maybe in Area 51?

Start out by going to the Filters Menu in Photoshop and take off (pun definitely intended) from there!

Happy galaxy hunting,

Mr. Strong

Journal Entry for 9/15 Photo One and Two

Dionisio González blends reality and fantasy with his pictures of shanty towns outside of San Paolo, Brazil. People in these areas fabricate houses out of whatever is available to them, using unconventional building materials. González blends the real and the unreal by adding digital elements (most likely in the form of windows and supports) adding beauty to an already beautiful series of homes.

  1.  How do you feel looking at these homes? How are they different from the ones you live in?
  2.

  3. There are large parts of the world (South America especially) where people live in homes simiar to these. How do you feel about that?
  4.

  5. How do you think the photographer feels about these homes and the people that inhabit them?
  6.

Photographer of the Day: Dionisio González: 9/15

From The Exposure Project Blog

For this project, González photographically fused the existing infrastructure with fantastical edifices that have no basis in reality. The imaginary additions are not the result of extracting actual structures from other photographs, they are pure digital fabrications that the artist creates from scratch.
