Journal Entry for 11/25
What makes today’s photographer of the day’s work so uniquely American?
What is unique about each of these pictures? Do you feel tranported to the places where the pictures take place?
Any Thanksgiving related photography planned? Close-ups of turkey’s, close up of mouth wide open with the reflection of the flicker of the Detroit Lions on the TV opposite?
At this time of year, the post election/just before thanksgiving, so close you can smell the corn pudding, how it cakes around the plump edges, with a baked cheese, egg corn combination that just dances right on the palate, anyway, the photography of Jake Stangel is as American as you can get, and on two different cycling tours, he criss-crossed across the backstreets of the smaller towns that make up the backbone of these United States. Enjoy a little slice of hometown life as you ponder the preponderance that is being an American. Enjoy every mouthful of mashed potatoes ‘yall.
Could it be true?
