This Week’s Photo Challenge: Macro

In this assignment, you will zoom in and use either the Macro mode on your point and shoot, or use one of our cameras with the Macro Lens on it.

Notice how on this image only the word “Stereo” is in focus. In  Macro Photography there is usually a  narrow band of depth of field, where only a specific amount of the image is in focus.

Focus on a Macro lens is very, very, fine and it takes some patience and practice to get the focus right. One turn of the lens can result in a completely different focus. Don’t let the auto focus speak for you, use the manual mode,  and take lots of pictures, experiment with the focus a bit. With Macro you can really capture the essence of a subject, so by zooming in on the texture, we can see things with a more discerning eye.
