Today’s Tutorial: Aperture

Your Focus assignment and photo challenge for next week will be on Aperture. Aperture measure the size of the opening inside the camera when we take a picture. Two things happen when we take a picture. One, the Shutter is opened, for a period of time, determined by Shutter Speed. When the shutter opens, behind it is a hole that lets light into the lens. The size of that hole is Aperture.

If you look at the illustration above, you can see the different aperture settings on cameras. To change the aperture setting, adjust the Av mode on the camera, and use the black dial to select an aperture opening.
